To avoid getting people in your pictures you could got at a different time of the day where people wont be around the area as much. Or you could change the lens on the camera so that the camera is focused on the main subject of the image.
If i was to used models in my pictures i would need permission from the models however i will also need permission of certain locations, the times when i would permission for locations would be if the location was in a private land. If you are unsure about a certain place then you should enquire about it. When in a public place avoid using a telephoto lens as it focus in on people, this can get you into a lot of trouble.
Try to avoid taking picture of places where there are a lot of children, there a lot of complications when i comes to children so avoid them.
Legal and ethical.
You have to think about if the image will offend a certain group of people if you was to take a picture of place where the was a lot of crime or racial crime you should avoid using racial stereotypes.
If you have a model and when you take the picture and they are not happy with how they are being portrayed then you are going to have to change it, you must inform the model of what the picture is going to be used for. Misrepresenting a model can be defamatory ( portraying them in a negative or false way ).
